Food for thought: Responsible trappers obtain the landowner's permission before trapping on his land.
Avoid setting traps in areas where domestic
animals may be caught.
Check your traps regularly and preferably in
the early morning.
Assist farmers and other landowners who are
having problems with predators.
Set traps to kill quickly utilizing water sets
where possible.
Make an effort to concentrate trapping in
areas where animals are over abundant for
supporting habitat.
Support strict enforcment of regulations.

Pan Tension is useful in preventing small animals and birds from firing the trap. It also prevents nearly all toe catches. For instance, your target fur bearers average weight is 20 lbs. = 5 lbs per foot. One half of that or 2.5 lbs maximum is a good starting weight. The should hold 2 lbs and fire with 2.5 lbs. Too Technical, Right?? Most of those who use pan tension guess-t-mate with fingers & screwdriver, you soon do it just right.
Down Pan Stop. First used by BMP coon trappers on SCM #11's Long Spring & #1-1/2 Coil Spring Double Jaw traps, to prevent toe chewing.
